Nicolandria was just a dream for fans in Season 7 of Love Island USA. That dream became reality once, through a domino effect of circumstance, Nicolas “Nic” Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen coupled together near the end of the season’s run and finished in second place.

With a devoted fanbase rooting for them, the real test comes now, outside of the villa. Fans always said they had eyes for each other, despite Nic being paired with Cierra Ortega before she departed from the villa, and Olandria being with Taylor Williams.

In a post-finale cast interview with Blavity’s Shadow and Act, the duo breaks down their Soul Ties kiss, reacts to TikToks about their “son” Marcel, debunks a fan theory and talks about next steps in their connection.

The interview below has been edited and condensed for clarity. You can view the full video above, which includes what Nic and Olandria say about the Marcel TikToks and talk about a fan theory about a necklace swap.

The die-hard Nicolandria fans say that y’all were lying. I don’t want to use the term lying, but everyone keeps going back to the Soul Ties kiss and believe you were lying that there was no spark. In that moment, do you really feel there was no spark between you two, or did these extenuating circumstances have to happen for something to click inside your heads?

Nic: I agree with you. I don’t think it was lying. I just think it was a misinterpretation of our own vocab. But internally, it’s like we knew there was something there, but also externally, her being with Taylor and me being with Cierra, those doors were still open, and we still had those strong connections. And so I think at that time, we weren’t able to fully invest into one another just yet.

Olandria: I feel like in that moment, I don’t know, I feel like I owe Cierra so much, and Taylor to a sense. I know it was perceived as if me and Taylor were never on good terms — we were. But yeah, I feel like I owe them so much because I know Taylor’s Nic’s best friend, and Cierra was mine. So I’m just like, “You know what? I don’t know. I feel guilty in a sense.” I don’t know. I just feel guilty, and I was like, “I don’t want to admit to me feeling this part.” I feel like that’s going to be a whole ‘nother can of worms I didn’t want to open.

Nic: But when you’re watching the playback of the Soul Ties, I feel like a video’s worth 1,000 words.

Olandria: I didn’t realize. And they call it the kiss that we heard around the world. I’m like, “Damn.”

Nic: That’s deep.

Olandria: I look back, I’m like, “Dang, that was a spicy kiss.” Watching it back, yes, but at the time, I’m like, “Oh, OK.” I was like, “Oh, this is nothing.” But watching it back, it was very passionate. I didn’t realize that in the moment, how passionate it was.

Olandria, you and Chelley both have been a beacon of representation for Black women, especially dark-skinned Black women, and Black people in general root for you so hard. What did it mean to search for love on your own terms, and at the same time, be applauded for that?

Olandria: It feels great. Obviously, I was out of my comfort zone. I’ve never really necessarily put myself out there, like, “Hey, this is how I feel about you. This is how I feel about the connection.” That was a lot for me because in the real world, you probably would’ve never gotten that out of me. But I didn’t want to go into Love Island — I didn’t want to go into the villa, being the old me. I wanted to grow as a woman so I could just be this well-rounded woman for my husband one day. It’s like, you know what? I can’t go in with old habits. Let’s step into a new light.

Usually in the real world, I will get someone cut off quick and will have another one immediately after, but I didn’t want to be that. I was like, “You know what? It’s going to be obstacles. Let me just work through those things and let me just try to find the value in a connection and just continue to work through those obstacles to make our connection stronger.” That’s the viewpoint I had. And putting myself out there and letting Taylor know how I felt about him as an individual and us as a couple, it was a lot for me. But I’m glad I did it because I learned so much about myself in that moment, and I learned that I am capable of, I guess, expressing my feelings in that sense. So it was beautiful.

There were a lot of outside variables, so to speak, but what do you both think was that moment where you realized that this could work, and you were in a different mindset — where it isn’t just strictly platonic?

Nic: So, I always say it’s the baby challenge for me — that was a big moment. But also, I think it was my favorite conversation. One of my favorite conversations I’ve had with Olandria was that “all you can feel,” which is that yellow couch where we’re talking about football, and we’re talking about life outside of the villa. And for me, that was so refreshing. Because yeah, it is nice to talk about your feelings and stuff, but to have those real-world conversations where you’re connecting on a level of what your interests are and where we could see ourselves in the future, I think those are the most beautiful kind of conversations.

Everyone is excited now that you’re outside the villa and for what things may happen now. You’ve only been in the real world for a few days now, but what does it look like for you to move forward and branch out within your connection?

Olandria: So next step right now is me flying to Florida and hanging with Ms. Jennifer and the family, and bringing Nic over to Decatur, Alabama, to meet my family. And from there, I think it would put it into perspective of what the future would look like for us. I know we met them for a split second in the villa, but I think actually being there in the moment, in the real world, at each other’s houses — I feel like that’ll really put into perspective of how the future will look for us, for sure. Because we’re both big on family, so.

Nic: I want to do some traveling as well with her. I know people are excited for travel vlogs and stuff. I’m going to take her skydiving. We’re going to do some crazy s**t, for sure.

Love Island USA Season 7 is now streaming in full on Peacock. The reunion special for the season airs next month.

The Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL, is growing in popularity in the cosmetic world, but there’s a stinky consequence that comes along with the risky procedure. Doctors are calling this dirty little secret “BBL Smell,” a foul odor that can occur when trapped sweat collects in the area as a result of patients sitting too long during the healing process.

But there’s another unfortunate complication that can affect patients, leading to a rank outcome—fat necrosis. During a BBL, fat is removed from one part of the body through liposuction and then injected into the buttocks. But if too much fat is placed in one area—more than the surrounding blood vessels can nourish—it can die off. This is known as fat necrosis, and yes, it smells just as unpleasant as it sounds.

“When there is more fat in an area than the blood supply allows, the fat will die through a smelly process,” Chicago-based plastic surgeon Dr. Eric Anderson told Daily Mail on July 5.

South Shore Plastic Surgery describes the BBL Smell as a “musty or slightly sour” smell and if it becomes overpowering, it might be a sign of an infection, especially if the foul odor pairs with unpleasant symptoms like redness, swelling or fever, the New Jersey based clinic notes.

As if that wasn’t stinky enough, post-surgery, many patients have trouble wiping their derrieres after the procedure, so if stool or urine collects around the area, bacteria can grow quickly, causing that foul BBL smell to run rampant.

Fortunately, there are effective ways to minimize this uncomfortable side effect. Çevre Hospital advises individuals who have undergone a BBL to use gentle, fragrance-free wet wipes or a bidet for thorough cleansing after using the bathroom. These options are much kinder to healing skin and essential for maintaining hygiene.

Avoid using products with harsh chemicals, fragrances, or rough textures, as these can irritate the incision sites and hinder healing. After cleansing, gently pat the area completely dry using a clean, soft towel. Keeping the area dry is crucial, as lingering moisture can promote bacterial growth.

Lastly, don’t forget to change your underwear or any clothing that touches the incision areas frequently. This helps reduce the risk of infection and keeps you feeling fresh throughout your recovery.

As previously reported, while the BBL can achieve significant aesthetic improvements and body contouring, it is associated with considerable risks. The procedure can lead to complications such as infections and adverse reactions to anesthesia. Shockingly, in 2017, the risk of death from pulmonary fat embolism (PFE) was identified, making the BBL the highest mortality rate among aesthetic surgical procedures. PFE occurs when fat enters the bloodstream and travels to the lungs or other vital organs. South Florida notably has the highest BBL mortality rate in the nation.

Season 13 of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta is officially underway, and longtime cast members Rasheeda, Kirk Frost, Scrappy, and Mendeecees are setting the tone for what’s shaping up to be one of the franchise’s most explosive seasons yet.

From diss tracks to cultural resets, the OGs are holding their own—and making it clear that this isn’t their first rodeo.

Rasheeda Responds to Bambi’s Diss: “You grown, woman”

The trailer teased a now-viral diss track from Bambi—and when fans heard Rasheeda’s name dropped, eyebrows raised, including Rasheeda’s.

“Definitely didn’t see it coming,” she said. “There was no history of any beef—it was always love. So when the diss track came, I’m sitting here like, now, you grown woman. You should know better.”

Despite the shade, Rasheeda made it clear she’s not retaliating.

“I’m not the type to run and make a song just because someone did. That’s not how I move. But I see it now for what it is.”

Kirk: “They want us to break up—but we’re still here”

Kirk Frost stepped in with an honest reflection on the pressure of public opinion in a decade-long marriage.

“Everybody wants to weigh in. You should leave. You should stay. It’s like people want us to break up,” he told BOSSIP. “At the time when the relationship was rough, it was so many people saying, ‘Leave him.’ But you don’t get the full picture.”

Kirk also pushed back on castmates who deflect attention by pointing fingers.

“Some folks want to act like they’re the Huxtables, but they’re so far apart. We all see it. This is probably the first time that’s going to get exposed—and we’re not deflecting. We’re just living in our truth.”

A Truce for Kannon: “It’s time to be grown”

In a move that surprised longtime viewers, Kirk and Rasheeda extended an olive branch to Jasmine, the mother of Kirk’s son. But Rasheeda said it had nothing to do with drama and everything to do with doing right by their child.

“He’s nine. He’s got a phone, he’s aware,” she said. “I would never want him to see nothing but toxic stuff. This was about peace—for him. Not coins, not lifestyle. Just peace.”

ATL Royalty: “We brought you into the city”

Asked what Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta has done for the culture, Kirk didn’t hesitate.

“This show used to have folks running home like it was the playoffs,” he said. “We brought people into the city—into the lingo, the music, the real life. Even when it hurts, it’s real. That’s why people connect.”

Rasheeda & Kirk’s Theme Song? They Already Know

When asked what track represents their marriage after 13 seasons, Kirk and Rasheeda laughed—and broke into song together singing Rasheeda’s song.

“Put it on him, make him wanna marry me…”

Still in sync.

More on the flip!

Scrappy Says It’s Spicy This Season

On the heels of Kirk and Rasheeda’s moment, fellow OG Scrappy told BOSSIP that season 13 isn’t holding back.

Source: Courtesy / Paramount

“Everybody is spicy. People stepping into the chat that never showed their personality before,” he said. “It’s giving…Twilight Zone.”

While Scrappy is focusing on an ATL compilation album with Joc to restore the city’s sound, his family life is also on front street—again—especially after last night’s premiere when his baby mama Shakira let him HAVE it for allegedly cheating on his new girlfriend with her.

Not only that, but he’ll be dealing with his ex-wife Bambi’s public jabs, which he told BOSSIP don’t bother him.

“That part right there? I don’t even care about. I stopped caring about that a long time ago,” he said. “That’s my kids’ mama—get your money. I don’t have to talk bad about nobody.”

Mendeecees on Gossip & Growth

For Mendeecees, this season isn’t about exposing his relationship with Yandy, it’s about correcting the narrative others created.

Source: Derek White / Getty

“We didn’t really touch our storyline. It’s just us addressing their narrative. People want to be inserted into the show and bring up stuff we don’t even care about.”

Still, he’s focused on protecting his family.

“As a man, our duty is to protect and provide. You’re gonna see a lot of that this season.”

Fighting For Their Fatherhood

Both men spoke candidly about how Love & Hip Hop often sidelines their parenting and humanity for drama.

“If I left it to them, you’d never see me with my kids,” Scrappy said. “I do my own Love & Hip-Hop on Instagram.”

Mendeecees echoed that:

“They told me this is a female show. So as a man, you gotta work twice as hard to show your growth. But I’m proud of what we’re doing. I’m proud of Scrappy’s growth too.”

One Unexpected Clash

Without giving away too much, Scrappy hinted at one of the most shocking moments of the season:

“You’re gonna see two families clash that you would NOT expect to see clash.”

Season 13 of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
