HBO Max’s The Pitt will be without a major character when it returns for Season 2.

As first reported by TVLine, Dr. Heather Collins, played by Tracey Ifeachor, will not be returning to Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, and fans are not happy about the casting change.

Iteachor’s departure was a creative decision

Sources have informed several trade publications that Ifeachor’s departure was a creative decision, not one that she made. The news comes after the actress reflected on her experience on the medical drama in an Instagram post.

“What a blessing to be a part of this first and foundational season of #ThePitt on @hbomax,” she wrote alongside a slideshow of behind-the-scenes pictures. “It was an absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece. Thank you to everyone who has watched & supported Season 1 & shared their stories with me. #TCA Awards #FYC #allthethings @thepittfanpage @warnerbrostv @manoloblahnik @olgatimofejeva @guylaj_styles @carolagmakeup @vraiofficial.”

The actress’s rep responds to rumors about her exit

In a statement to The Mirror US, a rep for Ifeachor dismissed salacious online rumors about her exit.

“Tracy was not fired. Dr. Heather Collins was simply not written in as a part of Season 2, which is a creative decision that has been confirmed by HBO,” the rep said. “Furthermore, any rumors about Tracy participating in any discrimination through her religion are completely incorrect, defamatory, and hurtful. This gossip could not be further from the truth. She is a woman who leads with love, kindness, and compassion, and as her very gay publicist, I can say that I see this daily, firsthand.”

What happened in Dr. Collins’ last episode on ‘The Pitt’

The Pitt fans last saw Dr. Collins in Episode 11, during which she opened up about her decision to have an abortion amid fertility struggles. As for why Ifeachor’s character didn’t appear in the season’s final episodes, Noah Wyle, who plays series lead Dr. Michael Robinavitch (known as Robby) and is an executive producer on the show, explained in April that it was necessary to isolate the medical drama’s central character.

“The whole end of the season is just removing bearing walls from Robby’s life,” Wyle said at the time while appearing on The Watch, as reported by TVLine. “He leans so heavily on Collins and Langdon, and then you take them both away from him… he leans so heavily on Dana, and then she becomes compromised… and then his one last relationship to Jake is severed when he can’t save his girlfriend.” The thinking was, “let’s take away all this guy’s support system and have him out there [alone].”

He added that, if Collins was around, “I think she would have maybe been one of those voices that could have reached [Robby], and we didn’t want him to be reachable.”

The Pitt Season 2 is currently in production and is shooting for a January 2026 release.

Fans aren’t happy about Iteachor leaving the show

Fans were surprised to learn of Ifeachor’s departure from the show and expressed their confusion on social media.

“The pitt fandom took a massive hit today bc wdym no dr. heather collins in s2… somebody get noah wyle on the phone immediately,” one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Another said the actress’s presence on the show was imperative for Black representation in medical fields.

“Representation matters in storytelling in all media forms Seeing a Black woman ER physician is inspiring to girls, young women & ppl watching The Pitt So it’s not fair to erase Dr. Heather Collins cuz of unexpected bts stuff Either recast or add a Black woman MD in a central role” they wrote.

And one fan noted other actors of color who’ve been cut from recent projects.

“Manny Jacinto’s lines cut from Top Gun. Simone Ashley reduced to a cameo in F1. Tracy Ifeachor and the other actresses of color left off The Pitt’s Variety cover. There’s a pattern in Hollywood of casting actors of color, only to minimize, sideline or exclude their presence.” they wrote

Bravo reality star Emira D’Spain, 27, is speaking out after a shocking food shaming incident on the July 8 episode of Next Gen NYC, where castmates mocked her meal and joked about Ozempic, despite her past struggles with disordered eating.

“Not gonna lie, it was hard for me to watch. I’ve been open about my past struggles with an eating disorder — so to have someone mock what I’m eating and make a joke about Ozempic was incredibly cringeworthy,” the model stated online.

In a clip from the Bravo series, cast members shame D’Spain after she declines to join a group seafood boil and instead indulges in a meal from Red Robin. Her choice draws raised eyebrows — and worse.

“No one should ever be shamed for what’s on their plate,” the 27-year-old said.

D’Spain explained that she doesn’t like seafood and hadn’t eaten all day, so she ordered something else. However, once her order arrives and she begins unpacking her mozzarella sticks, castmates Georgia McCannon, 24,  Riley Burruss, 22, Brooks Marks, 25, and Chloe Marks, 23, watch with visible judgment.

That Ozempic Headache Is Real — Here’s How To Beat It

McCannon, a brand and events creative strategist, gawks at D’Spain’s food, says “eww,” and covers her mouth in disgust, while the others stand by and laugh.

D’Spain’s body language shifts quickly as she realizes her meal has become the punchline, despite her castmates knowing about her past struggles with an eating disorder.

The Mayo Clinic describes eating disorders as “serious health conditions that affect both your physical and mental health. These conditions include problems in how you think about food, eating, weight and shape, and in your eating behaviors.”

Adding insult to injury, McCannon then quips, “The Ozempic is wearing off,” a jab that struck a nerve with the model.

“No one’s private medical information should ever be used against them,” the Victoria’s Secret model declared.

Ozempic has gained popularity as a weight loss medication, helping many shed pounds, despite its original purpose for “adults with type 2 diabetes to lower their blood sugar levels,” according to Drugs.com.

D’Spain — the first Black trans model to represent Victoria’s Secret and Bravo’s first full-time trans cast member — uses her platform to break barriers and remind others to respect people’s boundaries, bodies, and experiences.

“For anyone who’s ever felt unsafe or judged around food or their body, I see you. I’m with you. You’re perfect. Eat whatever makes you happy,” the beauty influencer continued.

Married to Medicine’s Dr. Heavenly Kimes isn’t just fixing smiles anymore; she’s looking to fix social problems and make a difference. The reality TV star revealed exclusively to PEOPLE magazine on July 7 that she’s officially running for Georgia State Representative District 93.

Dr. Heavenly makes her run official today, July 8, on the steps of the Georgia State Capitol.

“I’m not a career politician. I’m a mom, a doctor, a business owner—and I’m not afraid to stand up for what I believe in,” Heavenly shared with PEOPLE. “Our people deserve real representation, someone who understands both the struggles and the solutions.”

Dr. Heavenly, known for her brutal honesty (and occasional shade!), promises to bring that same authenticity to politics. According to campaign videos, she will focus on healthcare, education, economic prosperity, and boosting support for small businesses.

And who else is joining her on this political ride? Quad Webb, another fan-favorite from Married to Medicine, is stepping up as her campaign manager. Can we say, iconic duo?

Fans and celebrities alike are buzzing. Quad herself said, “Heavenly is a woman of action. If anyone can shake things up and make real change, it’s her.”

Dr. Heavenly first appeared on Married to Medicine during its second season, having previously been introduced as a friend on the show.  “It’s humbling,” Dr. Heavenly told ESSENCE about watching herself on screen. “You get to see what other people see, and that reflection has been a learning experience. I’ve grown tremendously.”

Will Dr. Heavenly Kimes Be Balancing Campaign & Cameras During The Taping Of Married To Medicine Season 12?

The popular series is currently filming its 12th season, and while it’s unclear exactly how much of Dr. Heavenly’s political journey will be captured, cameras are rolling. Viewers might just get an inside look at her campaign trail, blending reality TV with real-life political drama.

But let’s keep it real: Running for office as a Black woman isn’t easy. Society often holds Black women to higher, harsher standards. Whether balancing motherhood, business, or career, Black women face relentless scrutiny, judgment, and frustrating double standards.

Dr. Heavenly’s bold step into politics deserves applause. She’s leveraging her platform to represent her community, and we love to see it.

We’ll be watching closely as Dr. Heavenly navigates this exciting new chapter. With her – and her girl Quad – in the race, it got a whole lot more interesting.

Director Victoria Mahoney is preparing to unveil her bold vision for The Old Guard 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2020 Netflix action hit originally helmed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. This next chapter reunites the film’s core cast—including Charlize Theron and KiKi Layne—as they return with a renewed sense of purpose, battling dark outside forces that could threaten mankind’s existence.

Ahead of the film’s July 2 premiere, MadameNoire caught up with Mahoney and leading star KiKi Layne to discuss the making of the sequel, their experiences navigating the industry as Black women, and what audiences can expect from this thrilling new installment.

Speaking at the Netflix Presents Black Excellence Brunch during the American Black Film Festival on June 13, Layne shared how “amazing” it felt to reimagine her role as Nile Freeman for the second time. The 33-year-old star told MadameNoire that she was honored to bring a fresh and powerful presence to the action genre, a category of film that “hasn’t always centered” Black women. For Layne, The Old Guard 2 is more than just a film, it’s a moment of representation and creative evolution.

“It means everything to me,” the Hollywood standout shared. “I’m always thinking about how we are being seen and how I am representing us in every project that I do. To be the lead of an action film, and to do that alongside Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman, these women who have kicked down so many doors for women in action. Now I get to take it to the next level and represent for Black women in action. It’s amazing.”

As Nile, Layne plays the role of the youngest and newest member of the immortal mercenaries, a Marine-trained warrior who proves she can hold her own among seasoned superheroes. The film demanded intense physicality, with Layne taking on several challenging stunts. While she admitted it was tough at times, the Ohio native described the experience as “physically exciting” and “fun,” embracing the thrill of pushing her body to the limit.

One of the most daunting moments came during a scene where she had to leap from a high balcony onto a flag. Fear crept in, and the crew was moments away from calling in her stunt double. But Layne dug deep, faced her nerves head-on, and made the jump herself—delivering a powerful, adrenaline-fueled performance.

“I said, ’No, today is the day, the cameras are rolling. Oh, I’m about to make this jump.’ And I got into my gear and I did it!,” she gushed with pride.

The power of filmmaking is in the details, shared Mahoney

Mahoney was thrilled to bring her sharp visual instincts to The Old Guard 2. For the award-winning filmmaker, storytelling lives in the details—every scene, every movement, and every action was meticulously crafted to add depth and nuance to the film. It’s an approach she honed through years of studying theater and working off-Broadway, where precision and intentionality are essential.

Mahoney shared that she worked closely with Layne and the rest of the stellar cast to fine-tune every aspect of their on-screen presence, from how they walked and moved to the subtleties of each scene. This careful “calibration,” she explained, was crucial to creating a layered, immersive, and visually captivating experience for viewers. She’s excited for fans to see it all come together when the film premieres on Netflix July 2.

“Everything from props to location to camera angles to lens, which lens, why we’re close to you, why we’re far from you, what we want the audience to feel and what we don’t want the audience to feel—all the tools that are built to elicit emotion, I enjoy calibrating,” Mahoney said. ”Not only that, [but] sort of getting each aspect to then hit some crescendo or magnum opus. I have a clear visual beat.”

Leading a major action franchise as a Black woman comes with its own set of obstacles, but Mahoney remains confident, committed to standing in her power, and leading with strength, clarity, and creative vision. She acknowledged that while the industry is still “catching up” when it comes to equitably representing filmmakers of diverse backgrounds and identities, she’s focused on pushing boundaries and creating space for more inclusive storytelling to open up doors.

“One must know oneself so well that you are equipped in the face of any circumstance that reduces your greatness,” the director said bluntly. “So, if people standing around you do not see what your full capability is, you have to have an unwavering sense of your greatness and what you have to give that isn’t greater than the person standing next to you, but it’s great in the capacity of all that you have to give on planet earth with your time and your life and your talents and your skills.”
