The NBA star and the rapper made their red carpet debut on Wednesday, July 16, at Meg’s Inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City.

For the exciting occasion, the Houston hottie looked elegant in a halter-neck black gown with a silver, asymmetrical belt detail at the hips. As for Thompson, her let his other half shine, keeping it simple and opting for a classic black-and-white tux.

Just a few days after making their relationship Instagram official, Megan opened up to PEOPLE about just how serendipitous their introduction was. While she wouldn’t disclose the details of their “meet cute,” she did refer to the Dallas Mavericks star as, “the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”

“Oh, we met and it was such a meet cute it was like a f***ing movie,” the rapper told the outlet. “I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you when, but it was a movie that he’s the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”

Meg’s Inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala was held to “provide resources to effect meaningful and positive change in the lives of women and children, senior citizens, and underserved communities,” per the foundation’s website.

Its programs are “focused in the areas of education, housing, health & wellness, and community goodwill,” named after Megan’s late parents, Joseph Pete III and Holly Thomas.

“I feel like they can see what I’m doing right now,” Megan told PEOPLE of honoring her family’s legacy. “I feel like they’re looking down on me from heaven, and I feel like they’re like, ‘Yes, daughter!’ I feel like my momma’s so happy…I feel like she is clapping. I feel like my great-grandma is so happy. I feel like my daddy is like, ‘this is exactly what I knew my child was gonna do.’ I feel like they’re super proud.”

She went on to speak even more about her connection to Klay in other interviews that same evening, gushing over just how “kind” the NBA star is.

“I have never dated somebody so kind,” Meg told Page Six of her new romance. “This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy.”

She continued, “I just never dated somebody like him before, and I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”

The couple’s red carpet debut comes just one week after the rapper accidentally(?) featured the Dallas Mavericks star on her Instagram. In a series of photos shared on July 9, fans in the comments section quickly noticed Thompson in the background of her photos, sparking relationship rumors.

Not long after, Thompson made their relationship Instagram official by posting photos of the pair giving each other kisses and holding hands while on vacation. Now, it looks like the pair is ready to fully embrace a public relationship.

Just a few days after hard-launching their romance, Megan Thee Stallion are expanding their relationship to another app! The Houston native took to TikTok to post a video of the sweet gifts her “man” got her, posting a 6-minute video of her unboxing the Labubus the NBA star gifted her.

While she doesn’t reference Klay directly, she’s sitting on his lap during the unboxing, gushing over the figures as she opened each one and admitting blue is their favorite color as a couple. While Thompson spent a lot of his NBA career on the Golden State Warriors, he went to the Dallas Mavericks last year, which could explain their color choice.

The baller never shows his face in the video, even getting shushed by the rapper when he starts to mumble in the background. But, still, she ends the TikTok thanking her man for the Labubus, referring to him as “baby” a lot throughout the video. For some reason, Meg deleted the video from her TikTok page–but it doesn’t seem like a negative mark on their relationship, as Klay’s IG hard launch is still up.

Rumors of a relationship between the stars first started last week, when Meg posted bikini pictures with a mystery man in the background. Fans immediately noticed that the man lounging in the background of her photoshoot looked like Thompson, and a few days later, the baller confirmed their relationship with a photo dump–including one picture of them sharing a kiss, and another of the pair holding hands.

Prior to her recent pop out, Megan Thee Stallion most recently dated Bulls player Torrey Craig in 2024. While the pair never announced their breakup, it seems like the Grammy winner kept it pushing after his ex threw some shade–plus, a model accused him of dirty dog DMing during the relationship. Now, she’s on to bigger and better things, going from dating a bench-warmer to cuddling up with a future Hall of Famer.

As for Thompson, he was most-recently linked to Laura Harrier, though they kept their relationship fairly private.

Earlier this week, eagle-eyed internet investigators spotted a familiar face in the background of Megan’s latest summer vacation post on Instagram. During her photoshoot, the mystery man settled into a lounge chair for a closer look at her sizzling snaps. And who could blame him? It’s hard to focus on anything else besides the super snatched perfection of Thee Stallion, but countless comments caught Klay Thompson in the cut and set social media ablaze.

Welp, once fans already put the baller on blast, Klay decided to really give us something to talk about. On Saturday, Klay took to Instagram with a photo dump of his vacation, which turns out to be a tropical baecation in the Bahamas with the Hot Girl Swim stunner herself. In one photo, Klay is kissing a woman with flowing curls so big that they almost blocked his 6’5″ face. Although the woman’s back is to the camera, we’d know that colossal cake-clapper from a mile away, especially in those curve-hugging cream pants.

Another photo features a close-up of Klay holding Megan’s meticulously manicured hand as he leads her down a path to what looks like a sandy beach. We don’t get any additional glimpses of what looks like a very romantic date night, but fans have seen enough to stan the new celebrity couple.
