Attorney Tony Buzbee, who is representing the woman accusing Shannon Sharpe of rape, announced the news on on Friday, sJuly 18, saying both sides have agreed to a settlement in the civil case. The lawyer announced in a statement on his Instagram page that “after protracted and respectful negotiations,” Sharpe and his accuser “reached a mutually agreed upon resolution.”

“On April 20, 2025, The Buzbee Law Firm filed a complaint in Nevada making several allegations against Shannon Sharpe on behalf of our client,” his statement reads. “Both sides acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship. After protracted and respectful negotiations, I’m pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.

A dismissal with prejudice means a court case is terminated permanently, and the plaintiff is barred from refiling the same claim in the same or any other court. It’s a final decision that prevents the case from being brought back to court.

A woman, ID’ed only as Jane Doe, sued Sharpe back in April, alleging the former NFL star brutally sexually assaulted her several times at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. The alleged assault came following what she referred to as a yearslong, abusive relationship.

Shortly after filing the suit, Buzbee released an audio clip in which a man sounding like Sharpe can be heard appearing to threaten to “f***ing choke the s*** out” of his accuser. Despite this, Sharpe called the woman’s allegations “a shakedown” and insisted that he was planning to sue for defamation.

“I know my family and fans know exactly what this is about,” the ESPN host said in response to the accusations, per TMZ. “And I’m going to be out there telling you whatever I need to say, just like I always do. I love all you guys. Thanks.”

Sharpe stepped away from his ESPN duties in April while the legal process played out. It’s unclear whether this settlement means the former footballer will return to his role hosting First Take alongside Stephen A. Smith.

Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia’s tumultuous divorce was officially finalized in June, but Simon’s not done yet. According to a new lawsuit filed on July 17, Simon believes a court should award him $500,000 in lost business opportunities and sponsorships, claiming that Porsha’s seemingly shady, malfunctioning d-dropping disses about erectile dysfunction messed with his money.

The Nigerian businessman, 61, who owns the Atlanta-based SIMCOL Petroleum Limited Company, is also seeking “unspecified general damages for harm to his reputation, emotional distress and humiliation,” reports US Weekly, citing official legal docs.

After filing for divorce in 2024, Guobadia alleged that Porsha, 44, became “contentious” and began “making negative, false and misleading statements about him on social media, using her outsized platform to influence public perception of him negatively.”

The lawsuit, which was first reported on in November, pointed to a 2024 post where Porsha offered tips to help men combat erectile dysfunction (ED) in her Instagram Stories. While the post claimed to be in honor of men’s health awareness, Guobadia argued that it was a direct dig at him.

“These posts were intentionally crafted to imply that [Guobadia] suffers from this condition, casting him in a negative and humiliating light,” a lawyer for the entrepreneur wrote.

https://twitter.com/pdiariesmag/status/1810817401908297753

Simon’s attorney added:

“The nature, timing, and context of these posts, amidst the couple’s public separation, led reasonable viewers to infer that [Williams’] statements were referring to [Guobadia] – because they were.”

Arguing his case for the $500,000 reward further, the Nigerian millionaire accused Porsha of writing her post “in a factual manner,” implying that ED afflicted him. He argued once again that the post was “clearly intended to cast” him in a “negative and humiliating light.”

His lawyer added:

“[Williams’] statements were false; [Guobadia] does not have ED and has never suffered from or been diagnosed with this condition.”

To prove that his member is in good working order, Simon offered to submit medical records that would fight back against the ED rumors allegedly stoked by Porsha.

Lawyers for Porsha say the suit should be thrown out.

Us Weekly reports that lawyers for Williams say the suit should be thrown out of court immediately as Porsha’s post made no mention of “any particular individual” and lacked proof of malicious intent.

“[Williams] cannot and should not be held liable for sharing information regarding a common condition that likely plagues many of [Williams’] social media followers,” legal reps for the reality TV star penned. “For this reason, and the reasons detailed herein, this Court should dismiss [Guobadia’s] Complaint in its entirety.” Her lawyer added, “These posts simply provide information regarding a common condition, and Defendant even uses the hashtag ‘Men’s Health Awareness’ to draw awareness to the information that may help some of Defendant’s social media followers.”

Before news of the latest lawsuit hit the media, Simon took to his Instagram Story with a screenshot that read, “Good morning, sir, please can you marry a broke woman?” While it is unclear if Simon was the person on the receiving end of the text, the reply read flat out, “No, I’m retired.”

As previously reported, on June 11, a judge ruled in favor of The Real Housewives of Atlanta star to enforce the prenup that she and Simon signed shortly before their marriage in November 2022. The agreement will require Simon to pay “a substantial financial obligation totaling over hundreds of thousands of dollars.” The prenup also includes “terms that require him to split the equity of his $7,000,000 pre-marital home” with Porsha and “pay significant debts and expenses” tied to the housewife. Additionally, the Bravolebrity will receive monthly payments of $40,000 from her ex-husband for the next 14 to 15 months, along with full coverage of her legal fees. She’ll also keep the Rolls-Royce he gifted her in 2022, a vehicle worth over $300,000.

What do you think about this latest move by Simon Guobadia? Will he ever give up?

Rodney Hinton Jr. and his family are fighting for his freedom, and that takes money. Oftentimes, the average person doesn’t have cash on hand to properly defend themselves in court. When said person is Black, the community is inclined to help them get the best opportunity to get fairness from an unfair system.

BOSSIP has been watching this case closely, partly because the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy Larry Henderson have brought about larger conversations about justice and the growing societal dissent. Hinton stands accused of fatally striking Deputy Henderson with his car the day after 18-year-old Ryan Hinton, Rodney’s son, was shot and killed the day prior by a Cincinnati Police Department officer. Although Deputy Henderson was not responsible for Ryan’s death, Hinton stands accused of essentially taking revenge against him out of anger.

According to WCPO, Deputy Henderson’s wife has filed a lawsuit against Hinton and his family for crowdfunding $100,000 and allegedly breaking Ohio public policy law. Lorena Henderson is accusing the family of “public status and notoriety gained solely through his criminal act of killing Deputy Henderson” and doing so has “caused extreme emotional distress”. The suit also claims that the crowdfunding effort is against the state policy that bans intentionally profiting from violent crimes.

“Through crowdfunding efforts, they have sought to profit from the very crime that took a devoted public servant from his loved ones, raising over $100,000 by leveraging the notoriety of this heinous act,” Zachary Gottesman, Henderson’s attorney, said in a statement. “This is not only a violation of Ohio’s public policy against profiting from criminal conduct but an affront to the principles of justice and decency.”

When news of the case first broke, thousands of dollars poured into sites like GoFundMe and were promptly removed after the company cited a policy that forbids funding for people charged with violent crimes. GiveSendGo, however, doesn’t have an anti-democracy policy that presumes guilt…

“Our platform exists to allow individuals to raise funds for personal needs, including legal defense and family support, especially in times of crisis. Every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and we believe people should have access to their communities during such moments. We aim to uphold that freedom — even in challenging and emotionally charged situations,”

Moreover, Hinton has not been convicted of any crime, and he has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Lorena Henderson can be mad all she wants, but Rodney Hinton Jr. deserves a fair trial like all people.

Although the Ruthless actor called the ordeal “terrifying,” he claims the June filing was about defending other creatives from having to “choose between their dreams and their dignity.” He explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “Everyone deserves to go to work and do their job without their boss trying to have sex with them.” In the first interview since coming forward, Dixon discussed the alleged harassment that he claimed escalated to a sexual assault that he reportedly thought would end in rape.

Many comments latched onto speculation about Perry’s sexuality, which Dixon shut down. While the openly gay actor’s lawsuit noted that he “did not know that Perry was interested in men or that he was looking for a sexual relationship,” Dixon emphasized that the real issues are the alleged sexual harassment and assault.

“I’m not going to speak for him on how he identifies sexually,” he said about Perry, who broke up with Gelila Bekele, the mother of their 10-year-old son, in late 2020. “Regardless of his sexual orientation or gender, he should not be speaking to any of his employees whether they be men or women, gay, straight or bisexual about their sexual preferences, how often they’re having sex and physically assaulting them.”

As BOSSIP previously reported, days after the June 13 suit was filed, Perry’s legal team denied all the allegations as a “scam.” In a statement from attorney Matthew Boyd, he called Dixon an “individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam.” He continued, “Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.”

Antwan Lindsey was 45 years old on July 8, 2023, when a Franklin County, Ohio sheriff’s deputy gunned him down at a local apartment complex. According to ABC 6, someone notified the deputy, who was working security duty at a Walgreens drug store, that Lindsey was allegedly threatening people with a gun. It would later be revealed that the person who notified the deputy of the alleged threats was also in the apartment with an angry Lindsey, who believed that someone had stolen his vehicle. A subsequent investigation determined that the car was towed away, not stolen. The responding deputy exchanged brief gunfire with Lindsey before Columbus police responded to the scene, where an officer employed his taser to end the standoff without bloodshed.

However, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation report stated that it was only after Lindsey’s body “stiffened up” and he was incapacitated that officers fired 38 total rounds at a man who had already surrendered. Don’t take our word for it; here is the text directly from the BCI report (names of the officers involved were redacted, not by us, but by BCI as reported to ABC6) :

–––– –––––– and Officer Cook repeatedly told Lindsey to put his hands up, but he did not comply. witnessed Lindsey stick his middle finger up (“flipping the bird”) at officers and Officer Cook heard Lindsey state, “F**k you” and “F**k you ni**a, I’m not doing s**t” during the encounter. –––––– –––––– decided to deploy his Taser in an attempt to take Lindsey into custody. ––––– –––––– advised Officer Cook he would be deploying a Taser and Officer Cook acknowledged the decision. ––––– –––––––announced “Taser…Taser… Taser” and deployed his Taser which made a “popping” sound. The Taser prongs made contact with Lindsey’s left side and ––––– ––––– observed him “stiffen up.” Immediately following the Taser deployment, gunfire erupted from within the hallway of the lower level.

The entire incident was captured on body camera and released to the public. It is very graphic, and some may find it disturbing. Click HERE if you wish to view all 20 minutes of footage.

The family’s lawsuit keys in on the BCI admission that the 38 rounds were not fired until after the taser had been deployed and appeared to have been effective. That said, it should come as no surprise that a Franklin County grand jury declined to indict any of the involved officers, leaving the family to seek financial justice on their own.

10TV notes that this lawsuit, which is for $75,000, isn’t confined to just the officers who fired their guns; it specifically names the City of Columbus, Police Chief Elaine Bryant, Public Safety Director Kate McSweeney-Pishotti, Sergeant Jonathon Goodrich, the four officers who fired at Lindsey, and more than 15 other officers and staff members.

BOSSIP will continue to monitor this lawsuit as it progresses.

A San Francisco judge has ruled that CNN alum Don Lemon can move forward with his lawsuit against Elon Musk. According to The Grio, Superior Court Judge Harold Kahn concluded that Lemon has reasonable evidence to prove his breach of contract lawsuit.

“The ruling means Don can hold X and Musk accountable in open court,” Lemon’s attorney, Carney Shegerian, told Deadline. “Musk is subject to the legal process, just like everyone else, and that’s important. There’s no question about Musk’s motives and liability, as documented in his own texts and on X for millions to see.”

Why is Don Lemon suing Elon Musk?

Lemon filed his lawsuit against Musk due to a dispute over the show he launched on X in 2024. In his lawsuit, Lemon said he was forced to terminate his show on Musk’s social media platform after the pair sat down for an intense interview when they taped the first episode. Per the complaint, Musk sent a text to Lemon’s agent after canceling the show, saying “contract is canceled.”

The lawsuit states that Brett Weitz, the former head of content, talent, and brand sales for X, told Lemon that the platform is “not going to pay him or follow through with the promises and representations made to him because there was no signed agreement.” However, Musk previously told Lemon “that there would be no need for a formal written agreement or to ‘fill out paperwork,’” the complaint states.

Lemon said X offered him a one-year deal for the show, requiring him to provide “exclusive rights to specific video content for a 24-hour period before it could be dispersed to other platforms.” Per the complaint, X promised to pay Lemon $1.5 million, along with other incentives.

Lemon said he was rushed into the deal and told that he would have to attend the CES conference in January or the offer would be canceled. With his “knowledge of Yaccarino’s reputation as a successful media executive,” Lemon agreed to enter into the exclusive partnership deal, the lawsuit states, per Deadline.

What did the judge determine in the latest ruling on Don Lemon’s lawsuit against Elon Musk?

The San Francisco court dismissed Lemon’s accusations of negligent misrepresentation, defamation, retaliation, negligence, and harassment. However, Lemon is allowed to move forward with his claims of fraud, misappropriation of name and likeness, and breach of implied contract.

According to Deadline, Musk hoped the case would move to a Texas federal court. However, Musk’s request was denied.

Tyler Perry accuser Derek Dixon is speaking out.

The actor, who has starred in Tyler Perry’s The Oval for 85 episodes between 2021 and 2025, has spoken to The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive interview. Dixon filed a lawsuit against Perry June 13, alleging that the media mogul sexually harassed and assaulted him, including groping his buttocks at Perry’s Atlanta home and sending sexually suggestive texts, such as calling him “thick.”

Dixon told the outlet via email, “I couldn’t just let him get away with this. Everyone deserves to go to work and do their job without their boss trying to have sex with them. My goal is to help ensure that the next generation of actors and creatives don’t have to choose between their dreams and their dignity.”

Dixon describes an alleged pattern of misconduct in the workplace

Dixon alleges that Perry has “engaged in a pattern of exploiting male actors in his productions and using his power in the entertainment industry to harass employees,” the article states. Dixon recounted the high points of his lawsuit, stating that he met Perry in Sept. 2019 while working as an event coordinator for Legendary Events. The company was organizing the opening party for Tyler Perry Studios when Perry singled Dixon out.

Perry eventually gave Dixon the role of Dale in Tyler Perry’s Ruthless after meeting him and promised that the role could grow. Dixon later transitioned with the character from Ruthless to The Oval.

According to Dixon’s lawsuit, the role and other offers were used by Perry to allegedly hold power over him. Dixon claims Perry had a tendency to kill off characters played by actors he wanted to control, including Dixon’s, which created a dynamic where actors would do whatever it took to keep their characters—and jobs—secure.

Dixon also said Perry once complained that people didn’t give him anything in return for what he provided, and told Dixon, “I couldn’t piss him off or my character could easily just stay dead.”

Dixon stated in the lawsuit that he didn’t initially know if Perry was interested in men or seeking a sexual relationship. Dixon, who is gay, said he will not speak for Perry as to how he identifies.

“Regardless of his sexual orientation or gender, he should not be speaking to any of his employees, whether they be men or women, gay, straight or bisexual, about their sexual preferences, how often they’re having sex, or physically assaulting them.”

Dixon recounts alleged incidents

One of the major points of Dixon’s complaint is his account of a January 2020 incident at Perry’s house. Both men had consumed alcohol, and Perry told Dixon he was too drunk to drive home and offered him a place to sleep in the guest room. Dixon said that after he went to bed, “[Perry] climbed into bed with me and began rubbing my thigh. I immediately jumped out of the bed and said, ‘I’m not that sexual’ and stood up until he left the room. I thought that my reaction made it clear that night that I was not interested.”

Dixon said Perry encouraged him to write a pilot while The Oval was on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. When Perry read the finished script, he told Dixon he loved it and wanted to shoot it.

“I couldn’t believe he actually liked it, much less wanted to shoot the pilot for it,” said Dixon, adding that Perry’s offer made him feel grateful. “It was one of the best things to ever happen to me at the time.”

Dixon believed that he and Perry were on the same page and that nothing inappropriate would continue.

“There were times when I was around him and nothing would happen. So I thought he got the picture, and that created a false sense of security,” he said. “… I now realize I let my gratefulness for what he’d done for me cloud my self-respect.”

Later, Dixon came to believe that Perry—who was under contract with Viacom and couldn’t shop Dixon’s show for two years—was only using the pilot as leverage.

“I believe he was trying to dangle my dreams in front of me for as long as he could to prevent me from talking,” he said.

Dixon is seeking $260 million in damages.

Perry’s attorney, Matthew Boyd, told The Hollywood Reporter that he believes Dixon is “an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam.”

“Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail,” said Boyd.
