Senator Cory Booker basked in two separate wedding ceremonies as he married the love of his life, Alexis Lewis. The two ceremonies were held in two very important locations for the couple.
According to People, the first celebration took place on Monday in Newark, New Jersey, a city that marks some of the most important moments in Booker’s political career. The senator said his vows in a Newark courthouse as the couple’s parents joined them as witnesses.
The second ceremony took place on Saturday in Washington, D.C., Lewis’ hometown. Many more friends and family members joined the couple in Washington, D.C., as they once again celebrated their special union.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us — Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C. — first at the courthouse, then with our families,” the couple wrote on Instagram.

Everything to know about Alexis Lewis
While Booker has established himself as a prominent politician in the U.S., Lewis has found success as the vice president of investments at Brasa Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based real estate management company. Prior to her real estate career, Lewis worked for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic Development as an economic policy manager.
Lewis earned her Bachelor of Arts in marketing from New York University. She also attended Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business and earned a Master of Business Administration, Newsweek reported.
Lewis is the youngest of three children, per The Washington Post. The Washington, D.C., native is the daughter of Leslie Garber Lewis and Curtis Jerome Lewis, a labor attorney who opened his own firm in the 1980s. Lewis has now changed her last name on social media after getting married.
When did Cory Booker meet Alexis Lewis?
In an interview with the Washington Examiner in August, Booker said it was a friend who introduced him to Lewis a year and a half ago. The senator also appeared on the I’ve Had It podcast in October and revealed that he is getting married.
“I’ve had it with being single. 100%. Being single is not fun, especially when you’re trying to date,” he said on the podcast, per People. “And as a United States Senator, it’s been a difficult, challenging time. So I’ve had it with that, and I’m very psyched that I’m getting married.”
