Netflix has released its new Spanish-language limited series No One Saw Us Leave, a film based on the true story of a young woman who is on a desperate mission to find her missing children after getting caught up in an arranged marriage with a man who’s destroying her life. Per Entertainment Weekly, the five-part series is inspired by the memoir of Tamara Trottner, who was one of the missing children.

How did Valeria lose her children in the Netflix series ‘No One Saw Us Leave’?

Valeria, who is played by actress Valeria Goldberg, lost her children after marrying Leo Saltzman (Emiliano Zurita), who is the son of a highly successful businessman in Mexico. Saltzman, who is plotting to ruin his wife’s life with his father, runs away to Europe with the couple’s two children, Tamara (Marion Siro) and Isaac (Alexander Varela).

After realizing that her children are gone, Valeria hires a private investigator named Elías (Ari Brickman) for assistance.

“As Valeria and Elías chase Leo and the kids across the world, her desperation is compounded by her in-laws’ attempts to turn their shared community against her,” the film’s synopsis states.

What is Tamara Trottner saying about her family’s story?

In a 2022 interview with Chilango, Trottner recalled how she was kidnapped with her brother. Trottner said she was 5 years old when her father kidnapped her with her sibling and kept them away from their mother for years. While the father continued to move the children to various European countries over the years, Valeria continued to search for her loved ones.

In another interview with de dientes para adentro in 2024, Trottner said she first believed that her father was taking them on a vacation. As time passed, however, the young girl noticed that her father wasn’t answering much of the questions the children had about their mother and their previous home life.

Trottner has continued to tell her life story in another recently released book, Pronunciaré, which is the prequel to her Nadie nos vio partir memoir. Sitting down for an interview with Librotea, the author said the novel focuses more on the story of her grandparents, who had to flee Eastern Europe in the early 20th century due to war.

As she now gains fame as a successful author, Trottner remains grateful for her mother, who she describes as an “awesome mom.”

All five parts of No One Saw Us Leave are now streaming on Netflix.
