The Game star Hosea Chanchez is mourning the loss of his father, Ephraim Bristow, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Montgomery, Alabama, nearly two weeks ago.

How did Hosea Chanchez’s father die?

According to the Montgomery Advertiser, police responded to a hit-and-run accident near the 4400 block of Troy Highway, which involved a pedestrian who was killed in the incident the morning of Saturday, Oct. 18.

A police spokesperson confirmed that Bristow, 67, had fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case remains an ongoing investigation.

Chanchez shared a series of loving posts on Instagram dedicated to his father, and he also called out the person who killed him.

Chanchez spoke out about his father’s history with drug use

“The first person any boy wants to be is his father,” the 44-year-old wrote in the post’s caption. The post includes an audio recording of his father leaving him a voicemail. “No matter how ruff the road is you’re always willing to take the path to get to your father, as a boy. & as a boy your father is your hero. Even if he’s the real villain. Not all hero’s wear capes some wear Afros and leather boots, mine did.”

The actor continued, recounting how his father was a beloved figure in their community, but Bristow’s life changed after his years-long battle with drugs. “What he wasn’t, was a drug addict, he became one, but HE wasn’t one. He was a man of GOD … Him ‘on drugs’ was just a reaction to a foreign entity being induced in his body. That guy wasn’t my dad.”

‘He didn’t deserve that’

Chanchez also shared details of his father’s death and the brutal way he died.

“Two nights ago my father was killed on Troy Highway in Alabama,” he wrote. “And the murderer drug my father’s body a block & a half & then drove away like he was nothing. As my father was taking his last breath on the side of the road…He didn’t deserve that. What a sad world we live in. I can’t even believe someone would do that to him. My father.”

In a separate post, Chanchez reflected on his father, highlighting the impact Bristow had on his life and emphasizing the importance of fathers in guiding young boys into the men they will become.

“Somehow I became a beacon of hope for my father. In many ways he looked up to me. I always knew he was proud of me because he would tell me,” Chanchez wrote. “I knew I had a chance to change the ending of our story with forgiveness—so that’s what I did—I forgave my father, years ago.”

“I wish it was different for him. I hope my father knew how much he meant to so many people & most of all to his children. He was here and he was loved by many & he will be missed. Rip, my father – Ephraim Bristow. ,” Chanchez concluded in the post about his father.
