‘The Family Plan 2’ Cast Reveal Their Top Seasonal Films – Blavity
With The Family Plan 2 gearing up to charm audiences, the cast is sharing a bit of festive spirit by revealing their favorite holiday films — along with how much they’ve grown while working on the franchise.
The film’s world premiere was attended by star and producer Mark Wahlberg, as well as stars Michelle Monaghan, Kit Harington, Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Reda Elazouar, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Peter and Theodore Lindsey, and director and executive producer Simon Cellan Jones.
Michelle Monaghan
At the premiere, star Michelle Monaghan lit up when asked to name her personal seasonal staples, Christmas or otherwise.
“Oh, my gosh, OK. Well, Christmas Vacation, I have to put that one there,” she said. “Steel Magnolias, I’m just a sucker for that film. I love it so much. Dynamite women. And, oh my gosh, what’s a… Cinema Paradiso is just a beautiful Italian film, and it was one of the first foreign films that I ever watched. And I watched it with my husband — it was one of our first dates. It’s very memorable to me.”
Zoe Colletti
Her co-star, Zoe Colletti, went for a mix of Halloween-meets-Christmas nostalgia and modern classics. “OK, I have to put The Nightmare Before Christmas on there, because I love Halloween, I love Christmas. It’s just so cute,” she said. “The Grinch has to go on there, for sure. The Jim Carrey Grinch. And then I think Elf. I’d probably put Elf on there.”
When asked whether she’s changed in real life as her character has developed across the films, Colletti was candid. “Yeah, I really feel like I have,” she admitted. “I feel like my character is pretty different to me in real life. But the amount of growth that she’s had is definitely pretty similar to how much I’ve grown. I was 20 when I filmed the first movie, and I’m about to turn 24. It’s been a long journey. Pretty similar to the amount of time Nina’s had to adjust. And I feel like I look at the version of me that was my first day on set on the first film, and she definitely looks like a little baby.”
Simon Cellan Jones
Director Simon Cellan Jones took a classic approach to naming his holiday favorites. “Well, the holy trinity I would say is Home Alone, Die Hard, and Mr. James Stewart [It’s a Wonderful Life].”
Naturally, the question followed: which Home Alone is the superior one? Simon didn’t hesitate. “That was the one that opened the game,” he said. “I love them both, or all of them, but that’s my favorite.”
