President Donald Trump has recently told allies in the House of Representatives to vote to release the so-called Epstein files while continuing to call the issue a hoax. Trump cuts off reporter asking about Epstein with ‘piggy’ insult

Trump’s anger at being asked about his relationship with Epstein was on display during an exchange with reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday. Trump was questioned about recently released emails from the Epstein estate that called into question how much Trump may have known about Epstein’s sexual misconduct with underage girls.

“I know nothing about that. They would have announced that a long time ago,” Trump told reporters, adding, “Jeffrey Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years.”

When a female reporter for Bloomberg tried to ask a follow-up question about whether the Epstein emails were “incriminating,” Trump angrily cut her off, saying, “quiet, quiet Piggy.”

The comment mirrors insults that Trump has allegedly made in the past. Former Miss Universe Alicia Machado claimed that Trump, who co-owned the pageant when Machado won the title at 19 years old, ridiculed her for gaining weight by calling her “Miss Piggy,” in addition to other insults like “Miss Housekeeping.”

Trump’s ties to Epstein under scrutiny

Trump’s anger came after members of a House committee released emails from the estate of Epstein that show the disgraced financier discussing a variety of topics, including Trump. As Blavity previously reported, one of the emails from Epstein to reporter Michael Wolff has Epstein saying, “of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop,” referencing convicted Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell. In another email, this time to Maxwell, Epstein claims that Trump spent “hours” with one of Epstein’s victims, later identified as Virginia Giuffre by the White House. Giuffre, a former Mar-a-Lago employee who died by suicide this year after writing a book about her abuse by Epstein, Maxwell and others, all claimed that Trump “was always extremely professional and friendly to her.”

Trump now claims to support releasing the files, but may have other motives

The emails released last week are separate from a cache of files compiled by the Justice Department in its investigation of Epstein for sex trafficking of underage girls. These “Epstein files” have been the subject of months of political debate, with Democrats and some Republicans fighting to release them publicly. At the same time, Trump and his allies attempted to block their release. Now, a vote that could happen in the House of Representatives as early as Tuesday is expected to approve the release of those files. Trump changed his position over the weekend, telling House Republicans to vote in favor of the release, though he still calls the scandal a “hoax” and may hope to block the files in other ways.

Trump’s anger aboard Air Force One demonstrates that, despite whatever strategy he has adopted concerning the Epstein files, the issue continues to bother him.
