The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams was escorted off a Delta Air Lines flight on Sunday after arriving in Atlanta from Las Vegas.
Why did police meet Williams at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport?
According to TMZ, Williams was met by a police officer shortly after walking out of the gate after she was involved in an incident with another passenger during the flight.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation Atlanta Field Office released a statement and is now probing the incident.
“FBI Atlanta is aware of an incident on a Delta flight on November 16th allegedly involving Porsha Williams and/or at least one other person. We are looking to see whether any federal charges may or may not apply,” a spokesperson with the FBI said in a statement obtained by TMZ.
A Delta representative confirmed that two passengers were involved, and several crew members spoke with them about the altercation, according to TMZ. The flight continued and landed in Atlanta without an issue. The cause of the incident remains unknown at this time.
What has Porsha Williams said about the incident
Breaking her silence on the matter on Tuesday, Williams’ lawyer said that she was “verbally assaulted by an irate and unhinged passenger without provocation,” per People.
The lawyer continued, “The passenger then proceeded to make false allegations that were in direct conflict with observations from several eyewitnesses, As with any incident occurring aboard an aircraft, federal authorities are required to conduct an investigation involving all parties to determine what, if any, offenses occurred.”
They also added that Williams “has every intention of cooperating with law enforcement to whatever extent necessary, and remains confident that the passenger will be charged.”
Williams recently talked about her love life after her divorce
Williams, 44, was in Las Vegas for the weekend for BravoCon alongside her RHOA castmates. She spoke on panels and engaged in different activities during the three-day event.
She also attended CultureCon on Oct. 5 in Brooklyn and opened up about her love life during a panel discussion. She confirmed that she is “talking to” two different people just months after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Simon Guobadia, according to People. She is now narrowing it down between the two of them.
In July, she spoke about her divorce from Guobadia in detail: “I really don’t wish divorce on anybody,” she said. “It’s horrible, to allow your brain and your heart to connect with someone and then have to battle them like this? It’s like, the worst nightmare you have ever, ever experienced because you don’t recognize who you’re fighting. Like, Simon right now? I don’t know who that is.”
