Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel are in a relationship filled with toxicity and pop star glam in the upcoming A24 drama film, Mother Mary.

Hathaway stars as a Lady Gaga-esque pop star who hopes to reconnect with her estranged friend and former costume designer, Sam (Coel), on the eve of her comeback performance. But as the trailer shows, there’s a lot more that goes into their relationship, including old wounds, some sapphic tension, slight gore and a seance, among other things.

The film also stars Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, with Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs. Original songs are written and produced by Jack Antonoff and Charli xcx. FKA Twigs also provides original songs for the film. The Green Knight‘s David Lowery directs from his own screenplay.
