The family of Philbert James is now seeking justice following the devastating news, according to The Grio. Philbert James was a junior studying history at the U.S. Naval Academy.

According to a now-deleted video published by WFSB TV, the last time Philbert James talked to his family was the morning of Oct. 9. His mother, Maria, revealed to the news station that she and her son had conversed via text around 6:30 a.m. At 5 p.m., the Academy notified her that Philbert James didn’t attend any classes, and that’s when he was assumed to be missing.

The U.S. Naval Academy released a statement, noting that an investigation is underway to determine what happened to Philbert James. The school doesn’t have any answers yet.

“The circumstances surrounding the death are currently under investigation,” the statement read, per WMAR2.

“The Midshipman Development Center, Chaplain’s Center and Chain of Command are available to provide counseling and support services to midshipmen, faculty and staff,” it continued. “It is painful to lose a member of our Naval Academy family, and as we attempt to better understand this tremendous loss, we offer our deepest condolences to Philbert James’ family, close friends, classmates and company mates during this extremely difficult time.”
