‘Lee Cronin’s The Mummy’ Asks ‘What Happened To Katie?’ In New Trailer – Blavity
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is reinjecting horror into the classic monster movie.
Starring Jack Reynor, Leia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace and Veronica Falcón, the film takes place within the family of a journalist, whose young daughter has disappeared into the desert. Eight years later, she returns, but, as the film’s description states, “What should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.”
The short trailer has a lot of scary imagery
And a nightmare it is–body horror, scary imagery and more are packed into the short trailer, which primes horror fans for a version of the Mummy that will redefine the genre just like its 1932 and 1999 predecessors. The trailer ends with the cryptic question, “What happened to Katie?”, leaving behind just one more hint of intrigue.
Cronin, who was behind the successful Evil Dead Rise, serves as writer and director. He also serves as executive producer alongside Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Macdara Kelleher. James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville produce.
When does the film premiere?
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy comes to theaters on April 17. Watch the trailer below:
