Kyrie Irving Drops $50K To Support Tamir Rice Youth Center On His 23rd Birthday

NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving is known for putting his money where the movement is—and this time, it’s in honor of a young king whose life was stolen too soon.

On what would’ve been #TamirRice’s 23rd birthday, the Dallas Mavericks star quietly made a $50,000 donation to the Tamir Rice Foundation, pushing their dream of building a youth center in Cleveland one major step closer to reality.

🕊️ TAMIR’S LEGACY LIVES THROUGH ACTION

Tamir was just 12 years old when he was tragically gunned down by Cleveland police in 2014 while playing in a park. The loss was devastating—not just for his family, but for the culture.

His mother, Samaria Rice, has been on a mission to turn her unimaginable grief into purpose. She’s leading the charge to launch the Tamir Rice Afrocentric Cultural Center—a creative, healing, and educational space for Black youth to thrive in his name.

✊🏾 KYRIE ANSWERS THE CALL

To honor Tamir’s birthday, Samaria made a heartfelt request:

“Donate $23 in honor of my son turning 23 today.”

Kyrie answered in a major way—dropping a $50K contribution that took the campaign from just $9,000 to over $85,000 in a matter of hours.

And just like that, over 1,000 donors followed his lead. 🔥

🎯 THE GOAL: $110K

As of now, the campaign is just shy of its $110,000 goal. The funds will directly support programming, space design, and youth development for the center, which plans to open its doors in Cleveland.

🧠 THE NOIR TAKE

Kyrie didn’t need a press run or a mic drop. He let his dollars speak volumes.

This is what it looks like when celebrity meets community with purpose—and when Black grief is met with real resources, not just retweets.

🗣️ NOIR NATION, LET’S TALK:

Should more athletes be funding grassroots movements like this? 👏🏾

And how can we keep Tamir’s name alive beyond hashtags?
