Don Lemon is not holding back on his disappointment with Stephen A. Smith. During a recent episode of the Don Lemon Show on his social media platforms, Lemon blasted Smith for the comments he made about the killing of Renee Nicole Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent last week.

Smith made his controversial remarks about Good on his show Straight Shooter with Stephen A, Black Enterprise reported. Smith said the ICE agent was justified in shooting Good “from a legal standpoint.” Placing the blame on Good, Smith also said that she “wrongfully disregarded a law enforcement official.”

Multiple videos online showed Good driving a Honda Pilot SUV on a residential street when she was approached by an ICE agent, who addressed Good through her car window. One officer can be heard telling Good to “get out of the f**king car.” He then tried to yank the door open. Good drove away as tensions escalated, but she was shot multiple times while witnesses recorded the scene.

“He just gets on these like white boy, right-wing podcasts or his own show and just goes off about Black people and things that for which he has no clue,” Lemon said on his show. “It’s just shocking to me, this sort of cozying up to white people.”

Lemon also said he normally doesn’t like to criticize Black men in public, but he made an exception for Smith. While Smith is now focusing on politically commentary, branching out from his role as a sports analyst, Lemon said he’s getting into topics he doesn’t know much about. Lemon added that Smith is speaking from a place of ignorance and fueling harmful narratives.

Lemon also noted that Smith is making controversial comments to gain more attention and more money.

“It’s gotta be for the money,” he said. “If I became a Black conservative, I would be rich, like a gazillionaire, or if I just went on and started like bashing Black people just to bash them, and it seems that’s become his stock and trade.”
