Aldis Hodge will star in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios sequel to the 2024 reboot of Road House. Jake Gyllenhaal is reprising his role, originated by Patrick Swayze in the 1989 original. Dave Bautista and Leila George have also signed onto star.

According to Deadline, the Ilya Naishuller-directed film is currently staying a secret to those outside of the know. But what we can glean from the 2024 reboot is that it will continue the story of Gyllenhaal’s character, a former UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer in a roadhouse in the far-flung reaches of the Florida Keys. We also know that Naishuller is replacing Doug Linman, who directed the first film.

Will Beal will write the screenplay, which is also a change from the 2024 film, which had Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry writing the screenplay based on R. Lance Hill’s original 1989 screenplay.

Gyllenhaal will also executive produce with his Nine Stories Productions president Josh McLaughlin. Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner will also produce.
